MoreIf the first MI was a song, Fallout was a symphony and MI2 was nails on a chalkboard, this would be white noise. The opening scene is dripping with tension and I loved it to my core but the rest of the film doesn’t ever reach that level again, so I guess it was passable entertainment? Definelty better than MI2 MY FUCKING GOD THAT WAS SO BAD this one doesn’t acknowledge it ever happened so that’s a big plus

Another day, another boring and generic J.J Abrams blockbuster with no personality, made even worse by the fact that this one follows up the distinct (If ultimately messy and mediocre) visions of auteurs like de Palma and Woo. I can’t even muster up enough energy to hate it, it’s just so devoid of anything memorable or staying with zero ambition.

This is SUPER underrated. Phillip Seymour Hoffman’s performance in this is fantastic and I felt a lot of adrenaline throughout. One of the best of the series

'I will bleed on the flag to make sure the stripes stay red' by Laurence Fishburne's character is a very good patriotcore line. I'm surprised I've never seen it quoted anywhere.
IMF standing for Impossible Mission Force is a retcon I'm pretty sure (unless I missed a line in the first two), but it's a good one. Although tbh the first one is the only one in the trilogy where the mission actually felt 'impossible', so too little too late. Still, this is my favourite so far.

Man this franchise really found its footing AFTER the original trilogy.
Big step up from Mission Impossible 2. Maybe even better than the first.
